To program the Digital Remote
Before the Digital Remote can be used to operate your TV and VCR, it must be programmed with the correct TV and VCR models. The instructions, along with TV and VCR codes, allows programming the Digital Remote to control your TV and VCR. If your model has more than one code listed, it may be necessary to try a few codes before the Digital Remote correctly controls your TV and VCR.
Programming the Digital Remote for your TV model
- Return
- Locate the TV setup code in TV Model Setup Codes for the Digital Remote.
- Point the Digital Remote away from the Digital SmartBox, the TV, and the VCR.
- While the Digital Remote is pointed away, press and hold the TV and the SELECT buttons simultaneously until the indicator blinks twice. This may take up to five seconds.
- Release the TV and SELECT buttons.
- Enter the TV setup code using the number buttons on the Digital Remote.
- Press MUTE to make sure the device turns on or off. If not, repeat steps 3 through 5 with the next code listed.
Programming the Digital Remote for your VCR model
- Locate the VCR setup code in VCR Model Setup Codes for the Digital Remote.
- Point the Digital Remote away from the Digital SmartBox, the TV, and the VCR.
- While the Digital Remote is pointed away, press and hold the VCR and the SELECT buttons simultaneously. The indicator light on the remote blinks twice, this may take up to five seconds.
- Release the VCR and SELECT buttons.
- Enter the VCR setup code.
- Press MUTE to make sure the device turns on or off. If not, repeat steps 3 through 5 with the next code listed.
Scanning for and displaying the correct code
If the correct code for your TV or VCR model is not listed in the code table, you may find a working code by scanning through the Digital Remote code library. This allows you to try each and every code known to the Digital Remote without having to program them all manually. If a working code is found, you can then have the Digital Remote "flash" that code back to you for future programming.
Smart Scan Code Search
- Have the TV or VCR turned on.
- Select and press the device button you want to operate (TV or VCR) and SELECT together until the indicator light stays illuminated.
- Press and hold the CHANNEL UP button until the device turns off, and then release immediately.
- Press MUTE to make sure the power responds.
- Press the device button (TV or VCR) again to lock in the code.
- The device button (TV or VCR) should now control the power of the TV/VCR.
Displaying Your Code
- Press the device button whose code you would like to display (TV or VCR) and SELECT together until the indicator light stays illuminated.
- Press the device button again, followed by the INFO button.
- Press the INFO button and count flashes of the LED.
NOTE: Zero is represented by 10 consecutive flashes. If the device code is 037, the LED at the top of the remote will flash 10 times, then pause for 1 second, then flash 3 times, then pause for 1 second, and then flash 7 times.
Choosing your Volume Control Source
Your Digital Smartnbox and TV both have volume controls. It is possible to program your Digital Remote to control your volume from either source. Follow the instructions to program your remote to control your desired source.
To program the Digital Remote to control the TV volume
- Press the CBL and SELECT buttons together until the indicator light stays illuminated.
- Press the VOLUME UP button, and then release it.
- Press the TV button.
To program the Digital Remote to control the Digital SmartBox volume
- Press the CBL button and SELECT together until the indicator light stays illuminated.
- Press the VOLUME UP button, and then release it.
- Press CBL button.
Programming Smart Keys
Your TV Power and Cable Power buttons are Smart Keys, capable of repeating a pre-programmed sequence of 12 buttons. There are many possible uses for these buttons, one example would be to turn on your TV, VCR, and Digital SmartBox with a single press of a button.
Follow these instructions to program each of these buttons with any sequence you want:
- Press the CBL or TV and SETTINGS together until the indicator light stays illuminated.
- Press up to 12 buttons as you would like them repeated.
- Press the CHANNEL UP button to lock in this setting.
