Programming the Digital Remote

Before your Digital Remote can be used to operate your TV, VCR and other devices, it must be programmed with the correct models. The instructions, along with the codes for your models, will allow you to program your Digital Remote to control your TV and VCR. If your model has more than one code listed, it may be necessary to try a few codes before your Digital Remote properly controls your TV, VCR and other devices.

To program the Digital Remote for your TV model

1. Locate the TV's setup code in TV Model Setup Codes for the Digital Remote.
2. Turn your TV on.
3. While the Digital Remote is pointed away, press and hold the TV and the SELECT buttons simultaneously until the indicator stays illuminated. This may take up to five seconds.
4. Enter the 3 digit code for your TV.
5. If the TV turns off, press the DEVICE button to lock in the code. If the TV does not turn off, repeat steps 3 through 5 with another 3 digit code until the power responds.

To program the Digital Remote for your VCR model

1. Locate the VCR setup code in VCR Model Setup Codes for the Digital Remote.
2. Turn your VCR on.
3. While the Digital Remote is pointed away, press and hold the VCR and the SELECT buttons simultaneously. The indicator light on the remote blinks twice, this may take up to five seconds.
4. Enter the 3 digit code for your VCR

5. If the TV turns off, press the DEVICE button to lock in the code. If the TV does not turn off, repeat steps 3 through 5 with another 3 digit code until the power responds.

To program the Digital Remote for your CD Player, Stereo or other device

1. Locate the auxiliary device's setup code in Auxiliary Device Setup Codes for the Digital Remote.
2. Turn your CD Player, Stereo, or other device on.
3. Press the AUX and DEVICE buttons together until the indicator light stays illuminated.
4. Enter the 3 digit code for your CD Player, Stereo or other device
   .
5. If the device turns off, press the DEVICE button to lock in the code. If the device does not turn off, repeat steps 3 through 5 with another 3 digit code until the power responds.

Scanning for and displaying the correct code

If the correct code for your TV, VCR or other device is not listed in the code table, you may find a working code by scanning through the Digital Remote code library. This allows you to try each and every code known to the Digital Remote without having to program them all manually. If a working code is found, you can then have the Digital Remote "flash" that code back to you for future programming.

Smart Scan TV code search

1. Turn your TV on.
2. Press the TV and DEVICE buttons together until the indicator light stays illuminated.
3. Press the TV button repeatedly until your TV turns off.
4. Press DEVICE button to lock in the code.

Smart Scan VCR Code Search

1. Turn your VCR on.
2. Press the VCR and DEVICE buttons together until the indicator light stays illuminated.
3. Press the VCR button repeatedly until your VCR turns off.
4. Press DEVICE button to lock in the code.

To search the code library for the CD Player, Stereo, or other device

1. Turn your CD Player, Stereo or other device on.
2. Press the AUX and DEVICE buttons together until the indicator light stays illuminated.
3. Press the AUX button repeatedly until your CD Player, Stereo or other device turns off.
4. Press DEVICE button to lock in the code.

Displaying Your Code

1. Press the device button whose code you would like to display (TV, VCR or AUX) button, then [DEVICE] and the DEVICE button together until the indicator light stays illuminated.
2. Press the INFO button.
3. Press the 1 button, and then count flashes of the LED for the first digit.
4. Press the 2 button, and then count flashes of the LED for the second digit.
5. Press the 3 button, and then count flashes of the LED for the third digit.

NOTE: Zero is represented by 0 flashes.

Choosing your Volume Control Source

Your Digital Smartnbox and TV both have volume controls. It is possible to program your Digital Remote to control your volume from either source. Follow the instructions to program your remote to control your desired source.

To program the Digital Remote to control the TV's volume

1. Press the CBL and DEVICE buttons together until the indicator light stays illuminated.
2. Press the TV button, and then release it.
3. Press the DEVICE button, and then release it.
4. Press the CBL button, and then release it.

To program the Digital Remote to control the Digital SmartBox volume

1. Press the CBL and DEVICE buttons together until the indicator light stays illuminated.
2. Press the MUTE button, and then release it.

Programming Macro Keys

The M1, M2 and M3 buttons are Macro Keys, capable of repeating a pre-programmed sequence of 3 numeric buttons. Follow the instructions to program each of these buttons with any button sequence you like.

1. Press the DEVICE button and one of the Macro buttons (M1, M2, M3) together until the indicator light stays illuminated.
2. Press up to 3 numeric buttons as you would like them repeated.
3. Press the Macro button (M1, M2, M3) you would like to assign this sequence of buttons to.
4. Press DEVICE button.
