Programming the Digital Remote
Before your Digital Remote can be used to operate your TV and VCR, it must be programmed with the correct TV and VCR models. The instructions, along with the TV and VCR codes, allow programming the Digital Remote to control your TV and VCR. If your model has more than one code listed, it may be necessary to try a few codes before your Digital Remote properly controls your TV and VCR.
Programming the Digital Remote for your TV model
- Locate the TV's setup code in TV Model Setup Codes for the Digital Remote.
- Point the Digital Remote away from the Digital SmartBox, the TV, and the VCR.
- While the Digital Remote is pointed away, press and hold the TV and the SELECT buttons simultaneously until the indicator stays illuminated. This may take up to five seconds.
- Press the TV button.
- Enter the 3 digit code.
- Press the TV button to test the code. If the device doesn't turn on or off, repeat this procedure with the next code listed.
Programming the Digital Remote for your VCR model
- Locate the VCR setup code in VCR Model Setup Codes for the Digital Remote.
- Point the Digital Remote away from the Digital SmartBox, the TV, and the VCR.
- While the Digital Remote is pointed away, press and hold the VCR and the SELECT buttons simultaneously. The indicator light on the remote blinks twice, this may take up to five seconds.
- Press the VCR button.
- Enter the 3 digit code.
- Press the VCR button to test the code. If the device doesn't turn on or off, repeat this procedure with the next code listed.
Scanning for and displaying the correct code
If the correct code for your TV or VCR model is not listed in the code table, you may find a working code by scanning through the Digital Remote code library. This allows you to try each and every code known to the Digital Remote without having to program them all manually. If a working code is found, you can then have the Digital Remote "flash" that code back to you for future programming.
Smart Scan TV code search
- Press the GUIDE and INFO buttons simultaneously, then release.
- Press the TV button.
- Press and hold the CURSOR RIGHT button until the device turns off, and then release immediately.
- The TV button should now control the power of the TV.
Smart Scan VCR code search
- Press the GUIDE and INFO buttons simultaneously, then release.
- Press the VCR button.
- Press and hold the CURSOR RIGHT button until the device turns off, and then release immediately.
- The VCR button should now control the power of the VCR.
Displaying Your Code
- Press the GUIDE and INFO buttons simultaneously, then release.
- Press the device button whose could you would like to display (TV or VCR).
- Press the SELECT button and then count flashes of the LED.
NOTE: Zero is represented by 10 consecutive flashes, so if a device code is 037 the LED at the top of the remote will flash 10 times, then pause for 1 second, then flash 3 times, then pause for 1 second, and then flash 7 times.
Choosing your Volume Control Source
Your Digital Smartnbox and TV both have volume controls. It is possible to program your Digital Remote to control your volume from either source. Follow the instructions to program your remote to control your desired source.
To program the Digital Remote to control the TV's volume
- Press the GUIDE and INFO buttons simultaneously, then release.
- Press the TV button, and then release it.
- Press the VOLUME UP button, and then release it.
- Press the GUIDE and INFO buttons simultaneously, then release.
To program the Digital Remote to control the Digital SmartBox volume
- Press the GUIDE and INFO buttons simultaneously, then release.
- Press the TV button, and then release it.
- Press the VOLUME UP button, and then release it.
- Press the GUIDE and INFO buttons simultaneously, then release.
Programming Macro Keys
The F1, F2 and F3 buttons are Macro Keys, capable of repeating a pre-programmed sequence of buttons. Follow the instructions to program each of these buttons with any button sequence you like.
- Press the GUIDE and INFO buttons simultaneously, then release it.
- Press a Macro button (F1, F2, F3) and then release it.
- Press buttons in sequence as you would like them repeated.
- Press the GUIDE and INFO buttons simultaneously, then release it.
