Programming the Digital Remote
Before your Digital Remote can be used to operate your TV and VCR, it must be programmed with the correct TV and VCR models. The instructions, along with the TV and VCR codes, will allow programming your Digital Remote to control your TV and VCR. If your model has more than one code listed, it may be necessary to try a few codes before your Digital Remote properly controls your TV and VCR.
Programming the Digital Remote for your TV model
- Locate the TV's setup code in TV Model Setup Codes for the Digital Remote.
- Point the Digital Remote away from the Digital SmartBox, the TV, and the VCR.
- While the Digital Remote is pointed away, press and hold the TV and the SELECT buttons simultaneously until the indicator stays illuminated. This may take up to five seconds.
- Release the TV and SELECT buttons.
- Enter the TV's setup code. The LED on the Digital Remote blinks twice to confirm completion.
- Press the TV button on the remote to turn the TV on and off. If the TV responds, your remote is correctly programmed. If it does not, and there are multiple codes listed for your model, try the next code for your TV model in the list.
NOTE: This Digital Remote uses four-digit codes. The codes listed in the code table are three-digit codes, but can be used with this remote by adding a 0 (zero) in front. For example, if the code listed is 037, enter the code as 0037.
Programming the Digital Remote for your VCR model
- Locate the VCR setup code in VCR Model Setup Codes for the Digital Remote.
- Point the Digital Remote away from the Digital SmartBox, the TV, and the VCR.
- While the Digital Remote is pointed away, press and hold the VCR and the SELECT buttons simultaneously. The indicator light on the remote blinks twice, this may take up to five seconds.
- Release the VCR and SELECT buttons.
- Enter the VCR setup code using the number buttons on the remote. The light indicator on the Digital Remote blinks twice to confirm completion.
- Press the VCR button on the remote to turn the VCR on and off. If the VCR responds, your remote is correctly programmed. If it does not, and there are multiple codes listed for your VCR model, try the next code for your VCR model in the list.
NOTE: This Digital Remote uses four-digit codes. The codes listed in the code table are three-digit codes, but can be used with this remote by adding a 0 (zero) in front. For example, if the code listed is 037, enter the code as 0037.
Programming the Digital Remote for your Digital SmartBox
This Digital Remote is of controlling your Analog SmartBox (CFT2200) as well as your Digital SmartBox. The Digital Remote comes pre-programmed for the Digital SmartBox, but can be changed using the codes below.
- Press and hold SELECT and CBL until the light blinks twice.
- Press 9 9 6.
- Press CHANNEL DOWN.
- Press and hold SELECT and CBL until the light blinks twice.
- Use the following codes for the corresponding cable box:

Scanning for and displaying the correct code
If the correct code for your TV or VCR model is not listed in the code table, you may find a working code by scanning through the Digital Remote code library. This allows you to try every code known to the Digital Remote without having to program them all manually. If a working code is found, you can then have the Digital Remote "flash" that code back to you for future programming.
Smart Scan TV code search
- If the TV is off, press the power button on the TV to turn the TV on.
- Point the remote away from the TV.
- Press and hold the TV and SELECT buttons simultaneously until the indicator light on the remote blinks twice.
- Release the TV and SELECT buttons.
- Press 9 9 1 on the remote using the number buttons. The indicator light blinks twice.
- Point the remote at the TV and press the TV button. The TV now turns off. If the TV does not turn off, press the up arrow button to advance to the next code. Press the power button. You must repeat this sequence until the power button turns the TV off.
- Press the SELECT button. The indicator light blinks twice. The TV code is now set.
- Press the TV button again to test if the TV turns on.
Smart Scan VCR Code Search
- If the VCR is off, press the power button on the VCR to turn the VCR on.
- Point the remote away from the VCR.
- Press and hold the VCR and SELECT buttons simultaneously until the indicator light on the remote blinks twice.
- Release the VCR and SELECT buttons.
- Press 9 9 1 on the remote using the number buttons. The indicator light blinks twice.
- Point the remote at the VCR and press the VCR button. The VCR now turns off. If the VCR does not turn off, press the up arrow button to advance to the next code. Press the power button. You must repeat this sequence until the power button turns the VCR off.
- Press the SELECT button. The indicator light blinks twice. The VCR code is now set.
- Press the VCR button again to test if the VCR turns on.
Displaying Your Code
- Press TV or VCR and SELECT simultaneously until the indicator blinks twice.
- Press 9 9 0.
- Press 1, and then count flashes of the LED for the first digit.
- Press 2, and then count flashes of the LED for the second digit.
- Press 3, and then count flashes of the LED for the third digit.
NOTE: Zero is represented by no flashes. If a device code is 037, the LED at the top of the remote will not blink after pressing the 1 button.
Choosing your Volume Control Source
Your Digital Smartnbox and TV both have volume controls. It is possible to program your Digital Remote to control your volume from either source. Follow the instructions to program your remote to control your desired source.
To program the Digital Remote to control the TV volume
- Point the remote away from the TV and press the TV and SELECT buttons on the remote simultaneously until the indicator light on the remote blinks twice.
- Release the TV and SELECT buttons.
- Press 9 9 3 using the number buttons on the remote. The indicator will blink twice.
- Press the TV button. The indicator will blink twice to confirm valid selection.
To program the Digital Remote to control the Digital SmartBox volume
- Point the remote away from the TV and press the CBL and SELECT buttons on the remote simultaneously until the indicator light on the remote blinks twice.
- Release the CBL and SELECT buttons.
- Press 9 9 3 using the number buttons on the remote. The indicator will blink twice.
- Press the CBL button. The indicator will blink twice to confirm valid selection.
