Interactive Remote Control -- Mouse over the image of the DVR Remote for an interactive demonstration

To explore the DVR Remote, move the mouse cursor over the buttons on the photo of the remote. As the mouse cursor moves across the remote, a description appears describing the use of each button.

For instructions on programming the DVR Remote, refer to the section about programming the remote.

Interactive Remote - VCR button    VCR button
Pressing the VCR button will change the DVR remote to VCR mode. Once in VCR mode, the VCR/DVR/VOD control buttons (play, pause, rewind, etc.) and the POWER button will operate your VCR. For help on programming your DVR Remote to work with your VCR, press 'P' on your computer keyboard now.
Interactive Remote - TV button     TV button
Pressing the TV button will change the DVR remote into TV mode. Once in TV mode, the Power button will operate your TV. Before the POWER button can operate the TV, the DVR Remote must be programmed to control the TV. For help on programming the DVR Remote to work with your TV, press 'P' on your computer keyboard now.
Interactive Remote - Cable button    DVR Digital SmartBox power button (CBL)
Pressing the CBL button will change the DVR remote to the Cable mode. Once in CBL mode, the POWER button will operate your cable box. This button is pre-programmed to control the cable box. The DVR buttons work only when the remote is in the CBL mode.
Interactive Remote - Guide button    GUIDE button
Pressing the GUIDE button displays the Navigator Interactive On-Screen Program Guide on the TV screen. This guide allows viewing complete listings and brief descriptions of programs available on other channels. To view additional program information, press the INFO button while the on-screen guide in displayed on your TV. Pressing the GUIDE button a second time, or pressing the EXIT button, will remove or close the on-screen guide.
Interactive Remote - Info button    INFO button
Pressing the INFO button shows or hides the channel banner located at the bottom of the TV screen. Pressing INFO once displays the program title. Pressing INFO twice displays both the title and a brief description of the program. To remove or close the channel bar press INFO a third time, or press the EXIT button.
Interactive Remote - Settings button    SETTINGS button
Pressing the SETTINGS button displays the Quick Settings menu, allowing selection of highlighted options and adjustment of selected options. Pressing the yellow "A" button while on the Quick Settings menu displays General Settings – a more complete listing of options you can adjust. Pressing the SETTINGS button again causes the Quick Settings or General Settings menus to disappear.
Interactive Remote - Select button    SELECT button
Pressing the SELECT button activates the currently highlighted item in most menus. While browsing channels through the Program Guide (GUIDE) or Channel Banner (INFO), pressing the SELECT button tunes to the highlighted program. If you select a program scheduled for a later time, you will have the opportunity to set an onscreen reminder. After setting the program reminder, you can return to viewing any channel. A program reminder will display a few minutes before the program start. Pressing the SELECT button automatically tunes to the pre-selected program.
Interactive Remote - Page scroll button    PAGE SCROLL button
The PAGE SCROLL button allows quickly browsing program menus by scrolling more than one line at a time. In the Navigator program guide, the button scrolls through four lines each time the button is pressed. In the General Settings menu, the PAGE SCROLL button scrolls through five items for each press. Scroll up by pressing the '+' button, or scroll down by pressing the '-' button.

The CURSOR UP button, along with other cursor buttons, allows navigation through program menus and options. Pressing any of the cursor buttons moves the highlight in the direction pressed. When the Channel Banner displays, pressing the CURSOR UP or CURSOR DOWN button displays programs that are playing on other channels at the current time.

The CURSOR DOWN button, along with other cursor buttons, allows navigation through program menus and options. Pressing any of the cursor buttons moves the highlight in the direction pressed. When the Channel Banner displays, pressing the CURSOR UP or CURSOR DOWN buttons displays programs that are playing on other channels at the current time.

The CURSOR LEFT button, along with other cursor buttons, allows navigation through program menus and options. Pressing any of the cursor buttons moves the highlight in the Direction pressed. When the Channel Banner displays, pressing the CURSOR LEFT and CURSOR RIGHT buttons displays programs that are scheduled to air at earlier or later times.

The CURSOR RIGHT button, along with other cursor buttons, allows navigation through program menus and options. Pressing any of the cursor buttons moves the highlight in the Direction pressed. When the Channel Banner displays, pressing the CURSOR LEFT and CURSOR RIGHT buttons displays programs that are scheduled to air at earlier or later times.
Interactive Remote - Mute button    MUTE button
Pressing the MUTE button will turn off the sound. When MUTE is first pressed, the word "MUTE" displays momentarily on the TV screen indicating the audio is off. The sound remains muted until it the MUTE button is pressed again, or until the VOL + button is pressed.
Interactive Remote - Exit button     EXIT button
Press the EXIT button to leave any programming menu or option.
Interactive Remote - Volume button    VOL button
If your remote has been programmed to control the volume on your TV, use the VOL button to increase or decrease the volume. Press the '+' button to increase the volume or the '-' button to decrease the volume on your TV.

NOTE: For help programming the remote to control the volume on the TV, press 'P' on your computer keyboard now.
Interactive Remote - Channel button    CH button
Use the CH button to change the currently tuned channel up (CH +) or down (CH -) by one channel.
Interactive Remote - A button    A button
The yellow "A" button is a multi-function button. The associated actions of this button vary based on the programming menu or option selected. Simply follow the on-screen instructions regarding use of this button.

HINT: You can skip in increments of 100 by pressing the "A" button while viewing the Interactive On-Screen Program Guide.
Interactive Remote - B button    B button
The blue "B" button is a multi-function button. The associated actions of this button vary based on the programming menu or option selected. Follow the on-screen instructions regarding using this button.
Interactive Remote - C button    C button
The red "C" button is a multi-function button. The associated actions of this button vary based on the programming menu or option selected. Follow the on-screen instructions regarding use of this button.
Interactive Remote - Number buttons    Number buttons
Press the NUMBER BUTTONS to tune to the desired channel. While in the Navigator Interactive On-Screen Program Guide, pressing the number buttons and the SELECT button will move the highlight to the selected channel. To view the highlighted program, press the SELECT button again. If you are viewing the channel bar, pressing any of the number buttons and the SELECT button will change to the desired channel.
Interactive Remote - Last button    LAST button
Pressing the LAST button tunes to the last channel you were watching.
Interactive Remote - Favorite button    FAV or Favorite Button
Pressing the FAV button tunes to one of the channels that has been programmed in the remote as a favorite channel. Pressing the FAV button repeatedly cycles through all channels that have been programmed as favorites. To program or clear the favorites one channel at a time, press the SETTINGS button. If necessary, use the CURSOR UP or CURSOR DOWN buttons to highlight “Make the channel a Favorite”. Once highlighted, use the CURSOR LEFT or CURSOR RIGHT buttons, or the SELECT button, to designate "YES" or "NO" for the channel you are watching. To save the selection, press the EXIT button, or change the channel. Repeat the process to set up other favorites.

To clear channels from the menu of your favorites, press SETTINGS, then the yellow "A" button. From the General Settings screen, highlight “Favorite Channels” and press SELECT. Favorite channels are indicated by "blue stars." To remove a channel, highlight it, and press SELECT. Repeat for other channels. To clear ALL favorite selections, page up using the PAGE SCROLL + button, highlight "Clear All" and press SELECT.
Interactive Remote - Rewind button    Rewind button
Use the REWIND button to rewind the currently playing program. If the remote is in VCR mode, the VCR tape will be rewound. If a VOD movie is being played, it will begin to rewind. On any other channels, with the exception of Music Choice channels, the program will begin to rewind and your cable box will automatically begin to record live programming from the moment the rewind button was pressed.

NOTE: Before the REWIND button can be used to operate the VCR, the DVR remote must be programmed to control the VCR. For help on programming your DVR Remote to work with your VCR, press 'P' on your computer keyboard now.
Interactive Remote - Play button    Play Button
Use the PLAY button to start pre-recorded programs on the DVR, a VCR tape or iCONTROL Video on Demand movies and programs.

NOTE: Before the PLAY button can be used to operate the VCR, the DVR Remote must be programmed to control the VCR. For help on programming your DVR Remote to work with your VCR, press 'P' on your computer keyboard now.
Interactive Remote - Fast forward button    Fast Forward button
Use the FAST FORWARD button to fast forward through the pre-recorded DVR program, a currently playing VCR tape, or VOD movie. The FAST FORWARD button will also work if you rewound any portion of a live television program.

NOTE: Before the FAST FORWARD button can be used to operate the VCR, the DVR remote must be programmed to control the VCR. For help on programming your DVR remote to work with your VCR, press 'P' on your computer keyboard now.
Interactive Remote - Pause button    Pause button
Use the PAUSE button to pause or resume playing a live television program, a pre-recorded program on the DVR, a VCR tape or VOD movie.

NOTE: Before the PAUSE button can be used to operate the VCR, the DVR remote must be programmed to control the VCR. For help on programming your DVR remote to work with your VCR, press 'P' on your computer keyboard now.
Interactive Remote - Stop button    Stop button
Use the STOP button to stop the currently playing pre-recorded program on the DVR, a VCR tape or VOD movie.

NOTE: Before this button can be used to operate the VCR, the DVR remote must be programmed to control the VCR. For help on programming your DVR remote to work with your VCR, press 'P' on your computer keyboard now.
Interactive Remote - Record button    Record button
Use the RECORD button to begin recording the current program on the DVR. Pressing the RECORD button displays a box that allows selection of a single program or an entire series. Highlight the desired option and press SELECT. The program(s) will be recorded and can be accessed by pressing the LIST button.

Note: If “Record entire series” is selected, ALL showings of the program will be recorded until disabled through the Series Manager which can be found by pressing the LIST button.
Interactive Remote - Power button Power button
Pressing the POWER button will power the currently selected device on or off, depending on what mode the DVR remote is in. First, change to the desired mode by pressing the AUX, VCR, TV, or CBL button, then press the POWER button to power that device on or off. Before the Power button can operate these devices, the DVR Remote must be programmed to control each of these devices. For help on programming the DVR Remote to work with your devices, press 'P' on your computer keyboard now.
Interactive Remote - Aux button AUX button
Pressing the POWER button will power the currently selected device on or off, depending on what mode the DVR remote is in. First, change to the desired mode by pressing the AUX, VCR, TV, or CBL button, then press the POWER button to power that device on or off. Note: Before the Power button can operate these devices, the DVR Remote must be programmed to control each of these devices. For help on programming the DVR Remote to work with your devices, press 'P' on your computer keyboard now.
Interactive Remote - Instant replay button Instant Replay button
Pressing the INSTANT REPLAY button will automatically rewind and play the last 10 seconds of the current television program. When Instant Replay begins, your cable box will automatically being recording live programming. To advance to live programming, press the FAST FORWARD button, or press the LIVE button.
Interactive Remote - List button List button
Pressing the LIST button will display all the programs that you have recorded. You can navigate through this list with the CURSOR UP and CURSOR DOWN buttons, and play the recorded title by pressing the SELECT button.

Press the "B" Button to view individual programs scheduled to be recorded. To cancel a program recording, highlight the program and press SELECT and follow the on-screen instructions.

Press the "C" button to view program series scheduled to be recorded. To cancel a series recording, or to eliminate duplicate program recordings, highlight the series, press SELECT, and follow the on-screen instructions.
Interactive Remote - Live button Live button
Pressing the LIVE button will switch back to the live program on the channel you were watching. If you paused or rewound live television, the cable box will have automatically recorded the live programming so that you can catch up on what you've missed. Pressing the LIVE button will skip the recorded programming, bringing you back to live television.
Interactive Remote - Picture-in-picture on/off button PIP (picture-in-picture) On/Off button
Pressing the PIP On/Off button will turn the picture-in-picture window on or off, or resize the window. To activate the picture-in-picture window, press the PIP On/Off button. If the picture-in-picture window is on, pressing the PIP On/Off button will increase the size of the window. If the picture-in-picture window is on and enlarged, pressing the PIP On/Off button will close the PIP window.
Interactive Remote - Picture-in-picture swap button PIP (picture-in-picture) Swap button
If the Picture-in-Picture window is open, press the PIP SWAP button to button swap the picture-in-picture window with the full-screen channel you are viewing.
Interactive Remote - Picture-in-picture move button PIP (picture-in-picture) Move button
Pressing the PIP MOVE button will move the picture-in-picture window to different corners of the screen. Pressing the PIP MOVE button repeatedly will cycle the window through all corners of your screen, allowing you to position the window where it doesn't block full-screen programming.
Interactive Remote - Picture-in-picture channel button PIP (picture-in-picture) Channel button
To change the picture-in-picture window while continuing to watch the picture in the full screen, press the PIP CHANNEL button. Press the "+" button to increase the channel number in the PIP window. Press the "-" button to decrease the channel number in the PIP window.
